Reactions to the Decision

In case yall missed the biggest moment in history, here you can replay the hour drama in about 3 minutes:

Now there have been a lot of reactions, from pumping fists and cheering to burning jerseys and giving impossible guarentees. But what is important is that this inspired for Steve Carell to give his decision...and here I have it for you in all its glory...

and what did the real King have to say about all this? Its pretty funny, really, kinda like a slap in the face. Hes like, "I dont now what kids do now, but back in the day when I played, we liked to compete. Not like this BS staked teams of today. What the corn." Exactly what he said. Listen for yourself...

share your thoughts yall

Kobe

Last time I spoke on Focus and Kobe Bryant. This time we will look at his coaching abilities. TIME's Sean Gregory meets up with Kobe to get a few pointers. A few things to look for:
1. Kobe has a really high shot. The ball is well above his head. This allows him to A) have great leverage as shown on his jump shots and B) keep the ball away from the defender
2. The reason Kobe is so good on the floor is that he goes at the same calmness that he does in his practice. He is smooth demonstrating his shot and free throws and he keeps his cool and his form as he does it high speed in the game. Consistency wins games
3. Watching him talk about his focus in #6 Get In Character at 5:38
4. That white guy must be tall. He stand right at Kobe and Kobe is 6'6".
5. Will Kobe be the next Coach Isaah Thomas?

Focus: On a Mission

The Finals are here. This is where champions are victorius and the almost champions go home. Alright. Nothing new there. Sorry to dissapoint. But how are champions determined? How to they come to be? Its all about focus.

Now lets talk about differnt types of focus. You can focus on an immediate goal, such as driving home, or a bigger picture, like graduating and maybe getting a job one day. They could be specific goals such as downing the drink before your buddie does, or an every day goal, like making enough dough to pay Obama's taxes and still having a few cents for an orange Fanta from Mexico. We might as well state what focus is NOT. Its not sitting on the beach with your suit on doing some yoga crap. First off, the suit is partly ruined by the sand that gets everywhere, second, you look like a complete moron. Please kee p such behaviors in the privacy of your own home. And third off, you deserve to get hit by the spalishing water from some kid. I hope a seagull poops on that men's warehouse jacket of yours too. Think instead...think instead of a fat kid, who is really hungry, like really hungry. He just just eat, he doesnt just consume food, no, he destroyes it. He obliterates it from this universe and somehow it ends up in his stomach, adding to his thinkness. That is focus, ladies and gentlement, the only type of focus that is found between a fat boy and his cake. Dont get in between, becasue you may never come out alaive. I mean, just look at those eyes. Never have you seen some more fearful

We in America like to have role modles, for those who inspire, Kennedy, for those who fly, Superman, for those who kill and sleep with women, Bond, and for those who create "change," Obama. We need a role modle, someone that every little kid can be like, wow, I wan tto focus, I want to be the nexdt Focus Master, who would they look up too? Well, our search has been answered, b/c on national TV we foudn the perfect Mr Focus. He happens to be a Baskebtall superstar as well. No wonder. Here he is ladies and gents

I dont even hear you. I am on a mission.

100th post with the Saints as the SuperBowl Champions!

What can I say? THe game was amazing. I went with some friends to my roomate from last year, Ben´s house. We had a fun time watching the game. Haha it was great. The Saints started at the bottom but then slowly worked themselves back. THe second half was pretty intence because of more scoring and the intensity of the hits. Then, just as Farve lost the game for Minnesota, Peyton Manning did the same for the Colts in throwing an interception within yards of a touchdown to tie to t¡e the gmae. So the score appears to be much more spread than it really is. Wow. I was so glad for the Saints. I have been following them the whole year and gave yall a heads up a few weeks ago to watch them in the playoffs.
Peyton Manning gave the final blow to his own team with the interception.
Stunned with Joy
The New Orleans Saints won their first Super Bowl with a surprise 31-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Miami. Drew Brees hit a record-equalling 32 passes for 288 yards, with touchdowns to Pierre Thomas and Jeremy Shockey. And cornerback Tracy Porter returned an interception from Colts quarterback Peyton Manning 74 yards for another score to seal victory. Garrett Hartley kicked three field goals of over 40 yards as the Saints came back from 10-0 down early on. Indianapolis, who won the NFL title in Miami just three years ago, went into the game as favourites.

Brees Did it. Under all odds, after being rejected his entire career as too small, not good enough, the undersized 6footer and 180lbs QB not only became Superbowl champion, but also Superbowl MVP. He is the man. Respectable, full of entegrity, a hard worker, and a leader. What a joy to see him win and hold his son, showing him what can be accomplished through hard work and dedication. What a name to live up to for his son. Wow.

Coach Peyton was so tired after the win that on their flight home, he had some Lombardi goodness keeping him asleep. Pillow of Lombardi trophy? Haha, I know which one I rather have.

Best Play of the Game? Lance Moore´s sick and rediculous catch for 2-points. From a Reciver´s perspective, nothing gets more intensly difficult or just plain awesome as this. WOW.

Highlights of that awesome game:

......................................................................................
......................................................................................

So we all know what people were really watching...the Superbowl Commercials. SO what hit good this year' What were my favs? Lets take a look at some of the top ones and remember the laughs we had the first time. Here is my favorite from last year.

Monster.com Fiddling Beaver Ad - Pretty good one

Google: Parisian Love Ad - A lot of people liked this one. Very Clever.

Doritos Do Ad - Doritos usually have the best. This one was worth mentioning.

Denny´s Chicken - these were pretty funny. I just loved to see that chicken screen hahaha

TOP 3 ADDS? From DPinedoBlog, here are my top 3 favorite:

3. Hyundai Soata / Brett Favre Ad
-This one was awesome! Hahaha, made me laugh. Just too good to be true. Love that Farve played along with it. Hahaha

2. Snickers Betty White Super Bowl Ad
-I laughed so hard when Betty White got takled. It was just so out of place. Great stuff.

1. Doritos: House Rules Ad
-Doritos did it again. Best one by far! It was so funny. I just watched, eyes glued to the screen. And that little kid is the hero of the night. Hahahaha he was so funny but yet so serious and that is Why I love it. Two loves in life: His Moma and His Doritos. Well worth watching over and over again.

There you go, chaps. Re-live the moment of the Saint´s SuperBowol win and their awesome commercials. Gotta love it. Thank God for football and the Superbowl!

Back in Ann Arbor and ready to go

THe secreat to how good you are going to do in the semester are two things...sleep, and food. More sleep=good. More food=good. I beleive food and sleep can someonewhat be substitutes. Cant sleep a lot? Eat a lot of food. Cant eat a lot? Well sleep a lot. Im lyin. THats a bunch of made up stuff. But, thats what I do. Weeks are long and hard, weekends, well, I try to sleep when I am not at Crisler.

We will see how the basketall team does this semester. We are comming off of a very rough non-conference paly. Without the big staple games liek Duke and UCLA of last year, we will ahve to have a very solid running in conference play to get a good bid. Big games this semester include Ohio St at home, Uconn, MIchigan State at home, and a few big ones at the end to seal the deal again like we did last year.

TO Finish off, I want to offer the tip of the week and post a video one of my most loyal fans, Laxx1550, contributed to my email to put on the blog. For those that dont know, if you have any news, bits or info that you want included int he next dpinedoblog, just email me at dpinedoblog@gmail.com. Its that easy.

So the tip of the week...I went with my bud to the hotel a few weeks ago and when we left he forgot his charger and didnt know where it was. He figured he had lost it and was kinda bummed. I told him that instead of going to buy a new phone charger he should go to a local hotel and claim that he lost his charger for so-and-so phone. Sure enough they had one for his phone in a bin with tons of other lost chargers. It's the #1 most left behind item at hotels, so most places have a big bin filled with every phone charger imaginable. I found a quote online of someone who has seen this work..."I work for the second largest conference hotel in my city. You have no idea the size box we have of chargers left behind. 90 percent are idiot blackberry chargers. This works 100% of the time, we never verify that anyone stays here we just let them go shopping for [their] charger. Hell we even will give people a charger if they call down to the front desk and say they forgot theirs!" Aparently it also works with car rentals...cause everyone must leave theirs in their rented cars. THe moral of the story, truth be told, there are enough phone chargers int he world to cover every man and cow, so instead of going to T-Mobile and spending another 20 bucks, just go to your local hotel or car rental store and let them know that you lost yours there...bingo.

And now from our beloved listener Laxx1550...

finals, class reviews, and a little girl cat fighting

Finals...they were nice. I had them all and I conquered each one of them. It was great. ONe for breakfast, one for snack time, one for dinner...and then a few days later one for dissert. Here are my evaluations on my 5 classes:

organization of sport organizations...2
-the class was a joke...how to relate to other people in your organization. Granted people do not know how to do that these days because they were never taught how to share their candy when they were 4 so we have to take these classes to know how to talk to people who have different personalities. Its a good class to sleep in and as long as you really read all the material before all the exams you should be fine. I liked the presentation section. The teacher was kinda bland but he was a graduate student so this review only covers the concept of the class...with is 2 out of 5

strategy of sport organization...3
-the class was alright, a little bit better than organization. There was a lot of material and all of it taken from harvard business school. It had good material, but not enough to cover the entire semester. In my opinion this class could have been united with organization to make a more condenced class. The proffesor was really into her subject and tried to make it very difficult, but thats how most female teachers are...passionate...about assining tones of readings...of how to help the enviorment...yea....

economics of sports...4
this class was very interesting. It was economics but it made sence since it was adapted to sports. very interesting class. The professor was some big time that made his own books and was also the advisor of economics related to sports for congress and other big organizations. He really was big time. But he woudl jsut talk and talk in class and it was so amusing and interesting it easy hilarious. Best part was all the quizes and the one final were open book. Love it

sports law...5
this class was it. I lvoed it. it was my eraliest at 8:30 but I relaly enjoyed the class. It was all law stuff applied to sports. It was grea.t I just had to take notes non-stop and follow as detailed as I coudl but I really felt educated. I did really well in this subject too, probobly since law runs in my blood. Top things were the class was always let out at least 15min early and that he gave you reviw questions that were mostly what was on the exams. Iddnt have powerpoint but that was feasable with notes and light reading

rocket science...3
good class. blow off class. took it for fun with 2 manager buddies and one basketball player, witch says a lot. I enjoyed the class, very educational. It was a class were you could either sleep, got to get amused by the nerdy professors weird jokes, or just do something else. Everything was on the slides and th weekly quizes you could do with your notes and the exams were just the material on the slides online. Fun class. Interesting. And not too shabby. Recommended.

So that is how my finals went. And the classes. And now I am done...forever...in these classes. Time to regrister for new stuff and all that dandy stuff. Yea, so I am goig to stop radling here and let you go on with your every day life.

Now for those who missed the action, a few weeks ago we saw some examples of women agression. Now many people overlook how tough and roudy women really can be. Some just dont notice that women can be plain mean. Well, I got somethin here you might want to see to recalculate your perception of women athletes. They can fight and run and score...and pull you down...by your hair

October fading away with coaches booklets, Costume of the Month (!!!) and even some table tennis

So peeps...October is gone! Its gone gone gone! Like it aint happen again...till like next year. Crazy. Thank God, cause that was LONG. And what did I do finishing up my October? Tricks? Candy? Naw...I worked my butt of creating a mass production line of coaching reading liturature, you know, that type of stuff that you hand out to caoches at a choaches camp and it looks nice and dandy and its in colour and has liek 50pages and has tons of coaches notes and plays and defense and offesnive sets and even includes little areas to make notes and empty court sheets to draw plays and has some inspirational stuff and yea...you knoww hat I am talking about, right? Tons of stuff into one little booklet. Stuff that makes your camp look professional and liek you put time and effort into it. Thats what I am talking about. I worked on them. I put my time into them. Lots of time. It was fun. And did I learn so much with those booklets...like how to make tons of little rectangular holes in paper...like 10 papers at a time...and how to line up all the hwoles and put these metal rods in them and stick them in with some plastic binding stuff too..and then magically they all come together like one happy family and stay like that forever. And that, my friends, is how you make them professional booklets you get at camps! Genious! Some people might call that slave labor...I call it factory labor. If it makes a difference to you. But check them out. It was great. If I dont end up coaching or working for a professional team, I know my second calling! (That would really be like my 13th back up option really, well, maybe my 18th if I count fingure painting and writting childerns storries...Im good at those too haha). Here are some pics for perspective...

yea...it took me about 10 hours...

So I also need to call out for the Holloween Costume of the month...this is the costume of the month:

But I know what some of you may be thinking. Some of you may be saying to yourselves...thats no costume, you idiot! Thats Tiger! Ok, ok, thank you, Captian Obvious. But that aint the real thing. Thats my bud. Not only is that my bud, he is my fellow manager, a freshman here at the Univsersity of Michigan. He is even part of TEAM TEXAS (my team of managers that I lead) AND...on top of that...he is the Costume of the Year Receipient by DPinedoBlog! Yea! Congrats, Dexter! Your the Man! You sure look like Tiger Woods...and we hope you swing like him too!

And one more last peice of news...

China’s Ma Long justified his top seeded billing in the Men’s Singles event at the English Open, by overcoming compatriot and no.3 seed Ma Lin at the final hurdle to clinch gold on Sunday 1st November 2009. It was a sick match. Ma Lin is my favorite Table Tennis player, and he had a good running in the Olympics two summers ago that I was religiously following, but he fell short to a Korein in the championship there and to his amigo here in the English Open. Why fall short all the time you ask? I dont know...he is Chines. Dont tell him he is short. He already knows that...BUT, he is still #1 in the world...en el mundo, amigo. Numba won!

Ma Lin North and Ma Long south of Lin

Ma Long continued the devastating form he had displayed throughout the whole tournament to beat Ma Lin a four straight games. He won 11-9, 11-6, 11-8, 11-8. Earlier he had won at the Danish Open, the Salwa Cup Kuwait Open and at the Harmony China Open.

Check out them highlights...

Yea, people. So I hope you liked this edition of DPinedoBlog. As always, make sure you see this blog in its real form to capture the goodness and vids. And make sure to comment! Wanna see more youtue clips? More Table Tennis? More booklet binding instructions? Let me know! Cheers! -DP

Classes, Basketball, Boxing and even some Batman fun

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, I havent been able to welcome you here to Michigan. As you hve probobly guessed...the man is hard at work. Let me give you a little intro in the classes I am taking. First off, remember I am a Sports Management Major. So my classes are:
-Organizational Behavior of Sports Businesses
-Strategy of Sport Businesses
-Economics of Sport Businesses
-Legal aspects of Sport Businesses
-and Rocket Science
the classes are all 3 credits which makes it nice and I even have it set in my schedual so that I can lift three times a week at Crisler when there is no one there. Really nice. Check out my first vid of my new appartment:

Plus baksetball is here of course, so that means many hours in the office and even more at Crisler, doing individuals and gettign the players prepared for practices starting October 16. Basketball has been a real joy lately and it is only going to get better. Infact, my good friend and buddy Chinadu was the one to really push me for writing this post. H emade me promise to post it tonight. So here I am. Everyone say thanks to Chin. He really is a major contributor. We call him 5by5...well, I do at least, cause he si square with his 5 workouts. Fascinating. He loves my blog, checks it every few minutes on his blackberry and loves guessing my spelling errors. Not only that, he recomended putting pictures on the border like here to the left! What a role modle! He will go far, he will indeed, as demonstrated in being an econ major plus managing for the Basketball Team PLUS coaching for the Gabriel Reshard High School Freshman girl´s team for the 3rd year. Awesome. We love you Chin.

Anyhow, lets get to some action. If you remember last time I wrote about the Notre Dame hype. Well, incase you were sleeping in a cave or living ont he dark side of the moon, we won. And we won again and again. The hoosier game was pretty intence, with us comming up from behind and winning in the end amist Forcier hurting his shoulder. Of course after The Notre Dame game Forcier somehow managed to get one vote for the Heisman running...yea, 2 games into his FRESHMAN year...of course. But Whatever. Here are two vids I took at the stadium. Exclusive from the Video. Brought to you by DP Productions.

The Battle of the bands

Michigan pumping up

Now for some more news. You heard about the boxing fun from last post. Well, the specs are out and the fight generated and astonishing $1million pay-per-view buys, which is great for boxing: people are interested. The fight generated $54million in domestic pay-per-view revenue and the live gate made $6,811,300, generated from 12,009 tickets sold. Who´s more efficient?...well, haha yea. Always better to see live but ya know, it comes at a price.

But more exciting Boxing news...after 16 year, Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins will finally fight again. Wow. Amazing. There were talks of them fighting for a long time but it took forever to negociate the price split. But its pretty genious...50/50. Every heard of that before? But there is an incentive. Descition by Knock Out changes that to 60/40 respectfully. This is gonna be sick. Two old fat men, both over 40, dueling it out like they were little boys. The firght will be early 2010 and will be on HBO PPV. Ill keep you posted.

......................................

And the last bit of news before I start writing the next post haha...the Batmobile. Thats right. I think I have written before about Batmobile type vehicles but this is like pretty much the real deal. It is a $1 million 700hp Batmobile, right in Bruce Wayne´s budget, built over a 1973 Lincoln Continental chassis, and looks rediculously amazing. Too bad the vid didnt show its interior, which apparently is loaded with gadgets, from rear-view cameras to a plasma TV. Anyhow, enjoy the end of this post with this farewell vid. And comment, babby! You too chin! Thanks!

Basketball and Biking Glory

Well, June looks like an awesome month. I am super exited. I went to work from 9-5 Monday and then went to basketball camp at ACA. Man, all those kids need so much work on all the fundamentals its not even funny. Its liek starting from Zero, and although I have learned a lot with how to start teaching, I have not learned everything. I had to keep working on the kids with their shooting over and over again and it was nuts. Its pretty lame and you cant get much lower, but I have to learn and this gives me great hand on experience as its only me and Coach Long here. Tuesday was much better than Monday. The kids new the drills we were doing and all of them were night and day difference! Their dribbling is so much improved it is amazing! YOu would never have thouht they had just started to learn to dribble! Over all it was a really fun camp for me to teach in. I cant wait to do the one in Michigan.

Another thing is that the Moody/Callalen game was just announced this Monday morning to be played at Whataburger field so I had non-stop calls all day asking about it. I hope it doesnt hurt my riding lessons. Last Thursday I regristered at www.coastalcycleacademy.com to taking the riding courses held there at Whataburger field from June5-7, Friday through Sunday to get taught on how to ride a bike safelty and to not have to take the riding part of my liscence exam. And I am going to take it with Austin Arce. So yea, I will be packed, from Monday to Sunday, all fun in the sun. Loaded with Basketball and Bikes, it cant get much better than that...

Thursday was a nutty day. Got to Whataburger field at 8:30am. From 9-5 I sold tickets non-stop, literally non-stop. I sold 2,211 tickets and made over $10,200 dollars myself. Overall we sold over 17,000 tickets in one day with 5 of us working and over $54,000 in cash alone. Dang. We sold out of the thursday game at 1:58pm. We sold out of Friday´s game at 6:40pm. For the record, I was the only one who called that both games would be sold out. no one else beleived and and thus told people we would not soell out. But we did and they were surprised and people were pissed, but i expected it haha. I was exaustd.

.......................................................
MORTICYCLE FUN

Friday I had my first motorcycle class and that was really cool. At first it felt really guetto with all the poeple in it but then it felt good. Arce was super pumped. I was super pumped. Today we wernt from 6-9:30pm int he classroom only learning about the bike and correct procedured and pretty much the basics. Covered 3/5ths of the book. It was exciting!

Saturday I was soo pumped! I staed the night at Arce´s house and got up at 6:30. We left at 6:45. You can tell how excited Austin is at getting up that early.

We drove to the gass station there by the park to grab some grub and energy drinks and went to the parking lot. I was so exited to see all them bikes out! I got this funny helmet and with my shades I looked like a cop haha.

I got the cool black biek that was the only black bike in my section.

Austin in the Silver Bike

Tehre were two sections and we had austin, me and big Dan which was really cool and this dude from california who was older and owned a sweet cruser and another older guy who had a nice harley and was also very nice. And we had this girl who was terrible at riding bikes and I have no idea why she would come out here. She just seems out of place. The epidemy of a coprus christi hispanic lady. Terrible. But my groupw as aweosme and everyone had silver bikes but me and apparently the black bike had an easier time changing gears than the silver. And I did really good. Austin semi dropped his like 2 times and stalled all the time. I stalled once. The girl dropped it like 3 times. But I kicked butt and it was sweet. Confidence, baby, thats all it takes.

We rode all types of test manuvers and it was really good. I was getting really comfortable ont hat thing. Then we had a break and me and Asutin and another random dude went to this pizza buffet place by A&M Corpus. We got back to the classroom 10 minutes late and exausted and sunburned...well, jsut me on that last one. We finished up the book and after me telling people, we took the writtene xam and I would have made 100 if I didnt switch the definition of T-CLOCS and some over FLICS or something. Pfff. So yea, 48/50 thus 96%. Pretty good. Then me and Arce left super tired but super exited. I got back to my place and chilled and slept like a baby.

Check out the sunburn
Sunday morning Austin woke me up at 6:03am and then I drove to pick him up at 6:40 and we heard Wendle and Yakin to the place. We got here early, jsut us and the instructors. Then on the bikes and after a warm up that was very necessary, I took off and it was so much fun. We did some more tests. The box figure 8 was really tough for me. Had to remember to have a sharp head turn and to turn the handles AND lean AND counterballance. AND to take my time fully engaged in the first gear. Pretty tough but I was glad I made it without dropping. Also had the racing line turn and swerve and stopping fast and stopping in a turn and going over objects ect.

Change of helmets-full face

But in the end of our excersises, the cool older man who had a harly stopped after one of the last ones and stopped next to our lady and then his foot got caught on the only 500 that was in our section and in his attempt to get his left foot uncaught, he leaned to his left and since he was trying to jump off, his leg got caught in an ugly manner and that heavy bike broke his leg good. His tibia was puncturing his skin. Nasty. Sucks hard cour. He probobly wont ride that harly of his for 2 years. Dang that sucks. So the firetruck and the ambulance came took him for good. His name was Paul I think. Lord bless him.
Then we finished up the remander and then took the test. i was really confident, I admit. The first 2 were the box figure 8 and the swerve. The figure 8 I did weel but not as well as one of my practice ones because my head was not turned all the way which I needed to do. But I coudlnt see the line I was supposed to stay within very well adn one of them was a bit round so I missed 5 points on that. The thurd test was the hard stop. THe girl was right behind me...big Dan, me and then her 123. But when she stopped after the swerve she killed the bike after not doing a complete stop. Then moving it she killed it again. Then she dropped it. I had to pick it up for her so that she could get back on. THen She couldnt start it. Then she killed it again. I have no idea how she passed. She should have failed. She should have causet eh rules say if you drop, you fail. Heck, she even scored higher than me, goodness gracious. Shows again how tests mean nothing. Or very little. The last tet was the fast racing line turn and I couldnt see the blue line but since I was afraid of getting too wide I eased off on the 2nd gear a little, never let go of the trottle but eased just a bit and I got 6 points off for that. Pfff. My two errors were due to lines I could not see. And so I missed 11 points. Yes, I got an 89, a freakin 89. I was very upset. Very upset. She said I did good but I said not good enough. The frekain lines. She said herself they were hard to see,a dn if they are hard to see for her, I cant see them Yo! I told Austin he did better than me on the test. He was like naw, I couldnt ahve done better. But then he got a 92. And he began to brag aout it in my face hard core and rub it in. Pff,f the freaki lady got a 92 too as well. Garbage. But whatever, I did the best within my abilities and that is all that maters.
...and it was fun

Introducing...Youtube Video of the month - FlyingReliant Robin

Thats right...I am now installing a must see video of the month! I have been meaning to start this up for months now, but never got around to it. I have a few compiled. But, I just watched this vid from a top gear episode that is off the wall! You have to see it! You dont need to know what Top Gear is (its a car show) or any of the people to make sense. Essentially, in its basic, they are trying to get the Reliant Robin, the ugliest and cheapest car in the world, into a space ship! Their goal is to propel it into a few thousand feet in the air and have it land safely on the run way on its own 3 wheels (Thats right, the RR has 3 wheels...). A simple idea turns out to be a massive project. Super expensive too...I wonder how much they spent for this 9 minute clip, not including editing and filming costs. I showed my room mate mark and he was laughing off the floor. He said it was the funniest thing he had ever seen in his life! So, may I introduce, the Flying Reliant Robin...

Brown Bomber vs. Schmeling II clip
