Joe PA

Alright, yall, a stricking article came from ESPN about the legend Joe Paterno and its freakin hilarious. For any of you who dont know who Joe Paterno is, his is the embodied ment of college football and the last survivor of the olden days. In fact, read this:

"I've been to about four movies in the last 35 years," Paterno said. "I think the last one I saw was, uh, 'Amareus,' -- what was it, 'Amadeus'?"

Yes, "Amadeus," a biopic on composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which was released 26 years ago. So that means the only film Paterno has seen since then stars Penn State's offense, defense, special teams and opponents.

Paterno is 83. He's older than the Heisman Trophy, Michigan and Notre Dame stadiums, the Southeastern Conference, and the combined ages of his Nittany Lions' starting center plus one starting guard, starting wide receiver and starting cornerback.

This will be his 61st season at Penn State, his 45th as its head coach. Since 1966, there have been 860 coaching changes among FBS programs, including multiple firings and hirings at every school except one: Penn State.

"Joe Paterno [is] football," said Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald. "Joe Paterno's college football. I couldn't think of it without him."

Paterno has neckties older than 35-year-old Fitzgerald. With six more victories, Paterno will become only the third coach in college football history to reach the 400-win mark. To put the number 400 in perspective, that's almost half of Penn State's all-time wins (811) and only 75 fewer than that of Northwestern, which started playing in 1882.

We need more men like him, dedicated, focused, and that relish their position and nnknow they can make change and influence others. He is one of the dearest of all football, of all college sports, and of all sports in general. Bc that is what he is, a general on the field who knows how to comand his team and how toi comand and influence the athletic program and school of Penn State in a possitive direction. Its a shame that sao many coaches these days focus on what they can get away with and what big name players they can steal from another team. instead they should be taking the example of a legend, who brings in top talent because of him and his integrity and his legendary status...someone who builds off of what they can offer, not of what they can break and get the upper hand. Paterno is the example that all coaches should be looking to be, the one who is charismatic but at the same time demands the most out of his players. He is the real deal. He is a winner. And he is what football should still be about. Hittin people! Just laying the Fin guy out. On the floor. Thats right, football is about hitting...not money, not TV apperances, not future-NFL players...its about hitting and winning ball games on saturdays and that is what Paterno does best. He's the man.

finals, class reviews, and a little girl cat fighting

Finals...they were nice. I had them all and I conquered each one of them. It was great. ONe for breakfast, one for snack time, one for dinner...and then a few days later one for dissert. Here are my evaluations on my 5 classes:

organization of sport organizations...2
-the class was a joke...how to relate to other people in your organization. Granted people do not know how to do that these days because they were never taught how to share their candy when they were 4 so we have to take these classes to know how to talk to people who have different personalities. Its a good class to sleep in and as long as you really read all the material before all the exams you should be fine. I liked the presentation section. The teacher was kinda bland but he was a graduate student so this review only covers the concept of the class...with is 2 out of 5

strategy of sport organization...3
-the class was alright, a little bit better than organization. There was a lot of material and all of it taken from harvard business school. It had good material, but not enough to cover the entire semester. In my opinion this class could have been united with organization to make a more condenced class. The proffesor was really into her subject and tried to make it very difficult, but thats how most female teachers are...passionate...about assining tones of readings...of how to help the enviorment...yea....

economics of sports...4
this class was very interesting. It was economics but it made sence since it was adapted to sports. very interesting class. The professor was some big time that made his own books and was also the advisor of economics related to sports for congress and other big organizations. He really was big time. But he woudl jsut talk and talk in class and it was so amusing and interesting it easy hilarious. Best part was all the quizes and the one final were open book. Love it

sports law...5
this class was it. I lvoed it. it was my eraliest at 8:30 but I relaly enjoyed the class. It was all law stuff applied to sports. It was grea.t I just had to take notes non-stop and follow as detailed as I coudl but I really felt educated. I did really well in this subject too, probobly since law runs in my blood. Top things were the class was always let out at least 15min early and that he gave you reviw questions that were mostly what was on the exams. Iddnt have powerpoint but that was feasable with notes and light reading

rocket science...3
good class. blow off class. took it for fun with 2 manager buddies and one basketball player, witch says a lot. I enjoyed the class, very educational. It was a class were you could either sleep, got to get amused by the nerdy professors weird jokes, or just do something else. Everything was on the slides and th weekly quizes you could do with your notes and the exams were just the material on the slides online. Fun class. Interesting. And not too shabby. Recommended.

So that is how my finals went. And the classes. And now I am done...forever...in these classes. Time to regrister for new stuff and all that dandy stuff. Yea, so I am goig to stop radling here and let you go on with your every day life.

Now for those who missed the action, a few weeks ago we saw some examples of women agression. Now many people overlook how tough and roudy women really can be. Some just dont notice that women can be plain mean. Well, I got somethin here you might want to see to recalculate your perception of women athletes. They can fight and run and score...and pull you down...by your hair

A little Law fun...

You know how crazy things have been? Crazy! Going and flowin and mowin like no ones business. My managers are having fun. We are working hard. Quizes, exams presentations, raining out ide, yea yea but its game time and I am lovin it. We had fall brek tuhs past weekend but fall break really means tons and tons of practices and studying to catch up and studying for exams that will be comming soon, like more sports law exam, which is actaully really interesting.

Who knew that sports gets a way with so many things. Let me introduce you to someone. This is Sherman: He made the smart descition to make the Sherman antitrust act

The man was smart enoug that he thought the market needed commpetition. Thus he did not one team owning the market, like Kobe Bryant in the NBA. He did not want a monopoly like Microsoft.

So he finally descided to do something about it and in 1890 passed the Sherman Anti Trust Act. His "act," his little dancing routine, said that a firm cannot collude to control the market nor take control by itself, thus a monopoly. Dang, dont we love that game?

BUT, sports is different. Sports can break all the rules. of course,c asue its sports, and its fun, right? So Sports CAN collude, CAN control, and CAN monopolize. All the teams work together to make a league and keep others in the same sport out of the market. They also allow owners to work together and talk about prices and how they will draft and all that crazy stuff that would be illegal in any other context! But they do it...and get away with it...and have actual labor law exsemptions from the US Supreme Court. So its pretty legit geting away with type of stuff. The only stuff that really has any weight in gold. The logic???...that its pro-competative. So if hitting my brother in the face is pro-competative because it it builds caracter and caracter means a better person thus more competition in this world...then do it! And that is the message of the day...as long as it is pro-competative, you can get away with everything. YeeHawww!

NCAA Tournament! In Kansas City, Missouri!

Monday worked in my philosophy paper till 5:30 am. Got accepted into the sport management program! Which really means I need to knish off here with good grades. Pfff. Tuesday I finished the paper. I did that paper in under 20 hours and half the time I had class or was sleeping. It was on Boethius and how God is the Ultimate Good and thus one, simple, true happiness and all good, and that for man to be happy we must seek God since he is the source of all that. Very interesting paper at about 2500 words. Yeah, yeah!

Wendsday I was running all over the place, literally running from teh bank to the class room to this that and crisler and the office and back to SQouad, everywhere. Then I went I Rina's house with mark and brad and Bethany to make Alex'a cake and that was a bunch of fun at her house especially talking to her awesome mom about everything from basetball an Spanish and growing up to relationships and marrage. Then we got back to the dorms and presented alex the cake and he loved it.

And then the trip. Oh that mighty trip. It seemed everyone was dropping out of it too. So all that was left was 2 managers and 2 trainers, but we would make the 12 hour trip and represent well. I stayed up from 9pm Weds night to 3am thursday morning working on stuff I needed to do for classes that I would not be able to do while gone. Then the girls picked me up at 3am and we began the long epic adventure. We stayed at a motel in Independence, Missouri, just outside of Kansas City. The stadium is nice, real nice. I am sure they made Sprint Stadium to attract an NBA team or something, but it looks liek this big alean sphere of glass windows. Oh, asn we got sweet tickets too.

The game was so much fun. First off we were on row 2, and the row in front of us was for big12 media and no one was there, so we were practically the front row. And man did we shout! At the start you could see that we were nervous and scared. But we were able to break their press and make shots and the more we made the more confident we grew until we were outdoing them by a long shot, and so our lead grew. One of the best moments was when their best 3-point shooter elbowed Stu right in the head and got ejected, so it made our cause even more reasonable. But some how the higher seeded Clemson found a way to fight back and I thought we had put it away but we began to play to not win and soonn enought they were within 3 with a minute left and oh the nerve as we finally won! The score does not say much, but we dominated that team almost the entire game.

That night we were so tired that we all crashed. Friday was pretty chill, mostly involving studying and watching tons of march maddness basketball. We also went to the suberbly nice sheraton where the teamw as staying to chill with our fellow managers.

Price Chopper, only the coolest name
and the coolest grocial store ever

Then saturday came, oh that epic saturday. We packed up everything and then went to waffle house on teh way. Steve being the big drinker that he is was just pounding that stuff down. I thought he would surely stop when he knew when but I guess not. But we didnt find that out till later. He entered the stadium fine so we thought it was all good.

I just remember us fighting hard every step if the way. We finally got up and at the end we were down by 1 at the half. But by the last like 8 minutes things got bad. Steve was going nuts and acting super drunk. We had to keep him in place the whole time and make sure he got to his seat. But then all of assudent something hit him and he got out of hand. He was falling over and touching people he should be and I ended the last 5 minutes with me pinning him down at the glad. Stephanie tried but I took over again and just pinned him down. He had to pee. So I told the usher I had him and I walked up the long stairs to the top with Steve an the usher behind us. He called first aid. It was so embersssing. He peed and the aid dude came. The usher in the red coat was awesome tying to help us but the aid guy said there was nothing he could do and that since he was intoxicated he had to leave but someone ha to be with him a they walked out. So that was me. And yes, I got kicked out of beautiful sprint center with my team down on the floor comming backfrom half time and down by 1.

We walked outside to the power and light center. He was aweful. We sat there an the game was already in a lot. We were down by like 10. It sucked. There as a lot of red in there. And Steve sat there with his head down and everyone was staring at him. Some 40 year olds were pointing at him and laughing and I was getting sick of it. He tried to get up and I had him sit next to me. He wanted to leave but there as no where to go. He looked miserable. Those people were laughing at him so bad especially since we were loosing and even though they wore oklahome I didn't care. I told Steve to sit tight and he said ok as I went over and told them to shut it and told them the situation and showed them my ticket. Then they felt bad and said they wouldn't anymore. Then I hear someone yell "dude he is puking!" and I turned around and he wasn't sitting on the steps anymore. He was stumbling off in the opposite direction puking as he walked. So I ran after him feeling like such a looser.

He ran out of the facility and I stopped him and sat him down. He was right next to the reporters car. Then the lights busters came over and said he couldn't come back it because of the intoxication. That was the game for me. Corn. But whatever. He stayed there puking down the street drain until the reporter lady came by and disgustingly made us move. So we walked over a few yards and we stayed there, him sitting down puking and me there tryig I get wifi on my phone because I remembered I had my app on my iPhone to watch all the games. It took forever to get free wifi but I got it and started to watch the fame but I'd kept clitchig. I saw manny foul out an a few crappy calls. Then it was disconected for good but I could hear on the speakers that of was over. I checked tbc score an we lost Oklahoma by 10, 73-63. So me and Steve tried to walk back to meet the girls. I had to carry him. We were getting heckled and staired at by so many people it was aweful. But I stood strong and helped him through.

We found the girls and they were all mad. We walked back ad the girls said we got ripped so bad from the reffs. It was like 15-5 foul difference with them. They had big 12 reffs and it was stupid. Baaa. Freakin Ant was the high scorer with 1 points. Manny fouled out with 11 a I saw on my phone and peedi had single digets. We were just getting all these garbage calls which ruined our chances.

We were getting all the calls against us and the NBA Freak of Nature, Blake Griffen was getting everything. Really really annoying. We had them with 6 minutes left, down by 3, and when you look at the box score you asked what happened...the reffs did not alow us to compete. The killed us. We had very little chance with that type of officiating there in the end. I am not saying we would have won but I do know we would have had a chance for the Sweet 16.

We got back in the car, cleaned up steve and took the long ride back home. I was awake for almost the whole trip. But it was good. I got to talk to the girls about my faith and it was wonderful. We got back at 9:15am. I put my stuff down and went to bed. Got up at 1:30pm. I felt real good. Didn't get any homework done. Dawg, what a trip. Will never forget.

Dodge Ball Anyone?

Well, we are back from spring break, but a lot of stuff has gone down. I was really scared to go back to classes because it was so much fun just doing my thing and I didnt want to work anymore on my studies. But alas that day did finally come, but it didnt turn out too bad. I didnt have that much school work so I still was able to get my DP Groove on and the rest is history.

Monday I had my men´s group and that was really good. All of them but me and Mark went on the trip to Mexico so they were tellingus about it and how much fun it was. Too bad I didnt go, but my work here was good and necessary and heck I can go to mexico for a fraction of a cost that they went.

Tuesday I was able to hang ut with my boys Mikey, Stu Dougless, and Zack Novak at outback and we had some good good times. I tell you what, Novak is hilarious. A lof of peple know him as a hard basketball player, but outside the cout not only oes he shrink 2 inches but he is descivious and funny as heck. It was great.

Weds the quest began for the salsa routine. The following week was UCOffee and Mark had the genious ide of getting me and him and Rina and Brad´s girlfriend Bethany to do a salsa routine. We are all pretty good at salsa and we all enjoy it so it worked out. Mark had to teach me this rountine that was pretty intesnce and there were so many spins and moves it was great but a little tricky to memorize and even worse to keep on the beat. Rina and me and the openeing routine and it was sweet.

Thursday was Mark´s birthday. He turned 20. Wow, very old. And what is worse is that in less than a moneth I will be 20 as well. Haha. SO in honor of the man who like to "lets get drink!", we took him to a pub in Dexter only to get to see the seniors drink and nun for us young bioys. So what did we do for hisb birthday? We locked him in the trunk as we drove half an houir to dextor. He liekd the firt minute of it and then it got old real fast, but too late, there was no room in the front and he was already inn there. It was the 5 pentadudes with the addition to our 6th man, Alex Killpatrick. Good times, and the watress was really nicw over there at the pub. Very relaxful. That spot in Dexter reminded me of Fredricksburg in Texas, but not as Texasny, jsut real homey. It was a good time and we got to Honor mark there. I ordered this like pinapple burger and then I got a burger that was real good but I didnt realize tll I was half way done that there was no pinapple! I was just that hungry and it was that good. But then the waiter came by and weas like, we gave the wrong burger. She gave me the real pinapple one and he asked for the other one that was half way done. I was like, do you really want this? I caught her off guard and she was like, well, not really. SO I kept it. Thats how you do thiongs. I teel you what, haha. Good night.

Friday things only got better. It was dodgeball night. I got back latef rom basketball and Mark was in charge wof the dodgeball night with UCO with Bethie to help him, but at the same time he had his birthday dinner with his parents that night at 6 and the dodgeball was at 8. BUt they didnt come by to pick him uup till 7:20, and he was pissed. But he had to go, and then gave me the reaigns to go. ANd I was like, what? I am in charg eof what? I am playing call of duty online and you want me to do waaa??? But its all good. In like half an hour I got like 8 phnoenc calls and then was told to make a mix tape and then to dress up and then alex came by and left and then Rina came by to help me out and then we ended up dressing the exact same, that was my costume. Over there it was ultimate frenzy. I had so much fun. I just dominated it was so good...unitl I would have some fun and get in the front and be stupid and then I would get out and and I was done for cause we didnt have guys wheoo were good at catching. We had a wak night. And then it started to get late, so we called a best of 3 match. And it was war. In the first we fought and fought and then they wereable to take over and get the momentum and they beat us. In the second we started going and the same thing happened. They had like 9 and we had 3 and they were just going and the next thing you know we catch one and the MVP came back in and it was all over! That was mee by the way, cause when I came in I motavated my team like no ones business and I just started to launch the, suckers and getting one at a time out. The last girl was from hindsdale and she was justblocking all my shots. I was chugging the, hard too and my elbow started to urt. But then we finally got her. Then it was the tie beaker 3rd round. ANd it was going good, reall good, so good in fact that at one point we were loosing some and I hit a big basket by landing a ball in the basketb on the other side of the court and all our people came back in and we took over and won. What a dramatic come back from behind for the win! And then I got to talk to Jon and Ashley and RIna and a few others and it was great. But it wasnt over...not by a long shot.

Unofficially, I drove Rina´s car on the ski trip. Well,s he said never again and commented on that she has never let someone drive it before and she was scared about it. SO I tried totake her keys, and in the fun she gave me half of her keys, the part that didnt have her car key. Clever, but dont worry, I get her back. SO we are in, a car of 4 girls and one dude, and wehre having a good time and I atp her horn and stuff and it was great. Well, they drop me off at south quad, but in my sleek illusionist style, I keep the keys and go bck to my room....yeah. Well, I get this call liek 20 minutes later from this super angry Rina..."Do you have my keys!?..Maybe...I am outside my house and I have no keys!" Hung up...woops. My bad, hahaha. Then I get this death treat text from Bethis saying "do not go to bed"...oh dear. So I am there in my room for a while, desciding not to shower yet to see what goes down. I am there reading the news paper 40 minutes after I get that text and then I see Rina and Bethie storm into the room looking super mad and demand the keys. I point over to my desk and the storm out. Not to bad, I htought, I didnt even have to put down the paper...and then they stpor in at full speed with cans of silly string in their hands and it was all over! They just covered me all over and it was just all over the floor and coach and my hair, but with my ultimate strength I was able to pin them down on the coach and take them off . It was great until mark came and tackled me and let them finish spraying. y then I was too tired. It was rediculous, especially cleaning that all up.

Saturday we had liturgy of the hours and that was reallygood and then we went to eat at Franks, this little resturant where this short guy named frank makes every single meal there ver. It is really well known, but it was my first time there. It was great fun. Will Cannon´s parents came by and I explained to them the importane of Michigan basketball. I also used some of my moves to steal both Ahsley´s and Kevin Daulburg´s cell pones several times. Speaking of Kevin, he had this ideaof making a video for UCOffee about the awekwardness of dating and wanted me to star in it, which means nothing of my abilities of course. So we filmed there some and it was goood. Then The game against Minnesota started and I followed the first half on my phone. I got Kevin to drop me off at Crisler to watch the rest.

Now lets look at the significance of this game. This game was a must win. Minnesota was a good team. We beat them at home by 20. But they are still good. The Barn, where they play, is one of the most difficult adn whild place to play in all the nation. The floor is lifted up so that the players are sitting on the bench as if it was a dugout in baseball. It is big and packed and loud, and they have an excelent streak. Also, this team was 30-1 with a lead in the half at home. And that is how it was, us down by 1, at the half. But then comming back formt he half, they took off, absolutely took off. We were down by liek 16 and I saw trouble. I thought our team would step it up, I was for sure that we wouldnt let this slip from our graps. I started to get intence in the game, feeling like i was grinding every point as they were. And finally we had our run and came back and Lavel made a few shots and we caught up. With a few minutes left we tied and then took a 2 point lead. Then Manny hit a gutsy 3 pointer and we were up by 5. Then by 3. And with a few seconds left, Wallbrook took the ball past half court with 4.1 seconds and at that moment the coach calls a timeout as Wallbrook took a step back from CJ and made a nothing but net 3pointer! But the timeout was called before! So we got lucky with that 3 not counting. Would the coach be regretting the timeout? I dont think so. ANy coach would call a time out there and he should not be hit for the call. But either way, They inbounded the ball and Novak did a good job of keeping Wesbrook infront of him who actually lost he ball and the time expired. Wow. What a close finish. Wonderful, we finished our season with the one thing we couldnt do all year: winning a big conference road game. Wonderful.

Oh, and what do you think to T.O getting "laid off" from the Cowboys? Wild...
