Campint Trip!!!

So I got up early again, like at 7. I made some french toast and then me and Marissa and Ana drove all the way to San Antonio. It was actually a pretty quick trip. Ana is going to Eaurope as a graduation pressent. She studied speach therapy and plans to go to one year of grad school to get her degree in costa rica...lucky. Then me and Marissa drove home and that was fun.

Once I got back I put everything in a higher gear. Started to get my stuff ready for the camping trip. I started to pack and get everything ready. I am going to gardner state park and apparently its a really nice place. Then I went ot pick up Edy and Jake came over after work to shower. We ate dinner and then took offWe drove a long ways all the way to pfluversville, Texas, but not before getting lost and going in the middle of no where. If we would have found a little kid walking with a doll or something we would have crapped in our pants and died of a heart attack, it was that scarry out there. There were only dry corn fields and bushes that were encroaching the woods. There was absolutely nothing out there and we knew were were going the wrong way, especially when we found out we were at "Fuchs Grove"...yea, it was that weird. But we crashed and slept good at Edy´s Uncle, Derik´s house. Its a nice house in the middle of no where, a little subdevision. We slept hard but short cause we had to get up again soon haha

So we took off int he morning and had to use old school maps. We ate a little breakfast and that was fun. And then we had to drive through Austin again and we descided to round off san antonio and then we got closer and closer and then we got lost in this one small town because edy said to go strait and we went off the map into this guetto village place and he said keep going trust me and then we got through this bridge over water into a dead end. Thanks. But Jake found it. we finally found gardner state park and then we descided to get some food. Edy said he knew of this place that was a little off. Well Edy gave us another huge detuer with him saying, tust me guys its over here I swear, when I thought we should have gone in the other road that was approaching a small town. Well we finally do turn around and we find th eplace. What do you know.

Then we have tog et in line to get our reservations and we made it to the camp ground. Pretty modest little spot with a fire spot, a bench, a trash pole and a water faucet. Yea. So we first piched tent which turned out to be pretty easy and then we went to the lake.

We were dying to see this sign
...especialy with Edy directing

THen we went to the lake. We were there for about four hours and it was a bunch of fun. THe water was vey low because there was no rain in like forever. The water was warm and it was shallow enough that you could touch the rocks at most places with your feet. Me and Ed had fun witht his really high rope swing. Edy coudlnt get enough. Then we watched some guys climb these trees super high and then jump down. Two kids did back flips off of them. Tjhere was this one guy who went up there and then sat there at the top for a while. THen he turned around to moon everyone and then let go after everyone started to laugh at his white butt and he landed hard on his back. It was pretty entertaining I must admit. THen we met some girls that lived in Sheperd, Texas and most of them were ging to A&M and that was cool talking to their fun experiences at the park. THen we took off ourselves back to our palce. Edy made a fire becuase he was persistant that he needed to make one. We said wait till alter, but he said he rather have the hot embers so when we came back we could just wiff them up and have a blaz. That was until some random dude told us to put out the fire because park people were making their rounds looking for fires. So Edy had to put it out...so much for that.

Our Tent
Dont tell me you didnt want to see random trees

We ate a little and we had a good time talking. Then we dressed to go dancing. And this is where it got fun. We left at 9:15ish and got there and went in at 9:30. There were a lot of people, a LOT OF PEAOPLE. We wer elucky to find a quick place to park. We went in and took a few scans of the place. Tons of girls. I ran into this one girl who was all out texan. Started to talk to her and I told her things about Michigan and bla bla bla and then she was like, so you dont know the two-step? No I dont...well, let me show you! Ok! Haha, so she took me out and she showed it to me and it was a lot of fun. The next thing you know I was all over the dance floor nailing that Two-Step down. It was awesome.
About to get our groove goin

The rest of the night we just hung out at the tent and talked about good times. It was already really late by this time so we were exausted. But the weather was much nicer and dang it was a good bonding time. The next morning had to get up at 8 and get ready to leave. We cleaned up everything and tore down the tent and then we left for Corpus. The ride back was a lot smoother and then I went to work. it was great considering the last time I had a ligit shower not inculding the river was 2 days ago. But it was awesome and so was the game. Yea, it was great, great trip. about 800 miles in two days. Want to go again.

Too early to get up...and who´s fault is that??

Independence weekend and a rocket bike

This saturday is independence day, so when I went to work at the ticket office pretty much everything for friday and saturday was sold out. Kinda nice. Worked ont he window all day and then the game was pretty packed. Tonight was 80s night so I used papa´s tennis stuff and looked like a doof, and of course, I was stuck at prise wheel all night, and that sucked. Hahaha. I knew that the night we had to dress up and that I would be only one of the few to dress up, I would be stuck behind prise wheel...it happens

Saturday was busy again. Worked all day at the ticket office. Serina Williams beat her older sister in two sets. I was hoping that it would havegone longer and that Venus would ahve won, but whatever. THe next post will be on Wimbleton Tonight was the 4th of July game, and we have been sold out of this game for about 2 weeks. I had to teel so many people that all we had left were the general admission berm seats, and dang did we sell a lot of them! My family even came,a nd that was the first time all year that they come to a game together. The game was packed but it was fun. Kind of relaxing really. We lost the game but that was fine, because the ending was the best part. At 9:30pm, when we were at the top of the 9th inning, the city fireworks start going off on the other side of the bridge. The launch them there by the USS Lexington, a retired air craft carrier. So they had to stop play on the firld because of the distraction to the players. The fireworks were allright, same old lame corpus stuff: slow, big and boring. THen the game ended and I went downt o the bleachers to watch these ones. And then they go off, and they were so much better! So so so much better, dang it was cool! I love our fireworks; I jsut stair up at amazment, I love it! And then the flocks of people left and there was so much traffic outiside after I got out, well, I had to sit around for half an hour before I was able to take off and I was still bumper to bumper traffic on my bike for another 20 minutes before I was free again. What a night. I am still puzzled why we celebrate July the 4th as Independence day, as the Declaration of Independence was ssigned the 2nd. Hmmm. Anyhow, it feel on a Saturday this year and it worked out perfectly. Maybe they should switch it to the 2nd next year like it should be and it would be on a Friday. Pretty good idea, eh?

LETS HAVE SOME FUN

Ok, people, lets not get so serious all the time. Lets go for some news. Anyone ever wanted a sweat bike, like a motorcycle? Like my motorcycle? What about a bike that was fast, like a real bicycle but that just had like a motor on it, say, like Edy´s CC MotoBike? What about something more misterious, like a rocket, like something that could launch you into oblivion?...

...well, now you can, this the new Jet Bike that just became avaliable for a cool $1200, and you know thats cool considering how cool it will make you feel when you launch by cars at extrodinary speeds while being on the sidewalk. Not talking about how cool it would be to drive up to that next party with two giant thrusters on either side of your weels...now all you need is a second seat to cary that girl with you and your all set!

Beach and Father´s Day

Today I had to get up early and go with my dad to cccf for the father day´s breakfast. It was pretty good but I kept falling asleep. I talked to my friend who goes to georgetown and that was cool. I also talked to this LA guy about how he played in the big house once...which is rediculously cool. He told me it was the bigggest game of the entire year when they were able to play in Ann Arbor infront of a crowd of 100,000. He said him and his friends were in awe. They played close int he first half, 14-14 at the half, but then in the second half they scored nothing and Michigan scored 40 points. Still, utterly amazing and I am utterly jealous haha.

THen I went to the beach with carlos and skunk and perales and his bro and the dotsons. I got burned bad. Saw clair ellis and talked to her a long time with her friend kindell and that was fun. Us boys threw the footballa lot and talked about college and Annapolsi and just had a very relaxing and sunny time. I put on sun screen 3 times, and after being int he sun for 4 hours I gave up and put on my shirt and a towel and a hat and sunglasses, no more sun burn for me, thank you. But apparently after all my efforts, it was no good haha.

Skunk with his new helmet
Carlos being lame

Covering myself up, but apperently it wasnt good enough
Massive sunburn...that you can´t really see in this picture

WHats the worst thing for me when sunburned? Working out, definatly working out. It hurts so bad. YOur skin just burns so you can never feel your muscle because your skin is on FIRE!! What is your most hateful activity when you are massivly sunburned? Leave a comment below!

Last Week of Summer!

Guys, I am almost done. A few more days and I am good to go. I have the last home strech of games lasting 7 games. I was fortunate enough to go up to Round Rock the 18th, but starting the 20th through the 25rd, I have a game every day. I will have the 26th, a tuesday to finish up packing, and I leave the 27th Like at 11 am. I will be staying with my God Mother, Mirriam Torrez up in Ann Arbor and my schedualed move in is the 29th, a friday. The 20th is going to be an awesome day because it is the opening football game versus Utah. I had no idea they played football up there, but then again, that is what we said about Appalacian St. Last year.

The week was a long week of games. Unfortunately, car problems didnt help either. I got a nail in my right rear tire on tuesday. I am glad this happened while going to the gym and not while driving my 800 miles around Texas. Then, after it took an hour and a half at the tire store, I had a problem with the ignition/key thingy. It wouldnt turn off. I turned it once, it got stuck, and the key came out, but the engine never stopped. So I had to leave the cool man car running and locked while I did errands at several places. I took it to Pro Drive, the place we get out car fixed by our good friedn Juan, and he took it in. So the next few days at the ball park, I either had to get dropped off and picked up or I had to take the suburban. So it sucked. Big time. Last week here and no car. Bummer.

The last week went by fast. Along with the baseball games and no car, things flew. But my dad did let me drive with him on his porche one day, and it was awesome. Besides that, I cant wait to get out of here. Its hot as hell and the fact that it rained doesnt help the humidity level at all, haha. So next time, Michigan!!!

First week Back Home

Being back home is always weird. First off, it feels like you have never left or have only been away for maybe a few days. But in reality I was away from home for 4 months. This happened to me when I came home for the Christmas break too. But this time things are hot...very hot, and all my friends are still in school.
Monday morning I got up, excited for the day and my first day working for the hooks. I wanted to go work out but being sick kept me out of the gym. However, I was asked to go to the Hook's office early that day to see the park, meet everyone, and to get some office work done. So I got there at 10 am and I was able to meet everyone and check out the ballpark. I have been there before but this time I was able to see all the background stuff. Real cool and real simple. Then I went to clean and tape balls. We have this thing called Grande ball day. Grande is a cable provider down here. Once a monththey have this ball day. They sell baseballs for a dollar a piece. All the money goes to charity. After the game they put a bucket out on the field and everyone tries to throw the balls into the barrel. Whoever makes it into the barrel shares a $1500 dollar prize. So I had the joy of preparing the balls. First off I had to clean the balls used from the last time. Each ball had a four digit number on it. I had to copy that number on a ticket stub, and then tape that little ticket stub on the ball. That way whoever bought the ball would taire the stub off the ball and then throw the ball. Then the balls that landed in the barrel would have their numbers called and matched with the ticket stub. So I worked on that from 10:45 am to 3 pm. At 2 pm I had done 900 balls by myself before more people came to help.
Since I am ballpark entertainment, I usually will have to get there at 3pm. So at 3 I stopped doing balls and started with my daily duties. We hung posters of the sponsors of the day and put up the player score cards and did all the little things to get the game going in relation of us. At 5:30 we open gates and greet everyone in. At 6:30 we go nuts. We start going all over the stadium looking for people to do promotions. We send all the information up to the press box where our main man and the PA announcer are waiting for all the information. Then we carry on the game plan the entire night. We do everything, from asking questions to holding competitions to throwing out shirts to going out into the crowd and making cheers. My first day was so much fun. It was fun cause I was learning on the fly and because my job is just fun period. After the game we say bye to everyone, clean up our equipment, take down sponsor posters, talk abut the next day, and take off. I usually leave between 10:30-11pm. It was great.
The next morning I went to lift. I go to the Corpus Christi Athletic club. It was a hard workout. I forgot how much you sweat in this humidity in Corpus. Its ridiculous. It was a hard workout. Got other work done. Then went to work again. Got to the ballpark at 3pm. Did everything as usual and the game went on. This game went by real slow. The next thing you know it was the bottom of the 9th and we tied the game. And on we went to extra endings. 10th, 11th, 12th. We werejust cheering with the crowd, trying to keep them interested even though it was past midnight. We finally ended up having a fly ball to the left field getting through the player and bounced over the fence for a home run at the bottom of the 13th inning. It was a long game. We were lucky it was Grande ball day. All those balls I cleaned were sold the entire game. So people who bought the balls had to wait all those 13 innings to throw their balls. It really helped keep people in the stands. The ball time was great. balls from everywhere. Only 3 people made it into the barrel. Over a 1000 balls got their duty. I got back home like at 1:30 am.
You can read about the game here:

I was off for the last 2 homes games on Weds and Thursday. I like to put Weds cause I always mess up spelling wednesday. So I cheat. But anyhow, I had those days off. I ran for the first time back in Corpus on Weds. And man was it hard! So frustrating for 2 reasons: 1 it is super hot and humid here in Corpus. 2 I was out of shape b/c of being sick and not being able to do anything physical for a week. The combination was ugli! I was slow and dying from the heat. I went in the shower and had cold at full blast on my face and wrists trying to cool off and unsuccessful.
On saterday my brother had his high school formal. I graduated from Annapolis Christian Academy. I went to those formals in my days. They were alright. So we dropped him off and went to the boat show. We saw some cool cars, like porches, mazeraties, and a ton of yachts. We went to the end of the yachts and we saw this huge, 125 foot yacht. It was crazy big. Only really useful for parties, I would think. We were told they have had over 100 people on it before. The yacht had 12 rooms and took a 6 man cru to opperate. It used 50 gallons of petrol on cruse and 150 on top speed an hour. Some lawyer out of Galviston bought the 2000 year build yacht for $8.3 million dollars.

That was cool but not as cool as the yacht next to it. This 50 foot yacht was pimp. We were able to climb into it and go on the top part and sit down. It was so peaceful up there. We went down into the cabin and it was so cool. The captin's chair was like a thrown filled with cushions, dials and a nice wheel. There was a grill and a mini kitchen and 2 rooms and a bathroom too. The lounge area was surprisingly roomy. I can just see it now, get one of these suckers and put a plasma tv in the lounge area, invite friends over, so fishing or swim during the day, play cards on the top or play video games in the lounge, grill up some food, and chill for the night in whatever you can lay on. That would be so much fun. This boat was the coolest. Its price was over $1 million dollars, but the boat special brought it down to $959,000. Not bad, eh? Yeah right! But....if I ever did get the cash, I would try to buy one of these things at 70 feet and have a special compartment for my Lotus and a few bikes. Then me and Ed, my best friend/brother, would just cruse along the eastern bay, hanging out in the city in our Lotus and come hang out with new friends in the Yacht. It would be so much fun. Doubt that will ever happen, but hey, it would be cool. You have to admit.

We went to peir 99, a real good outdoor seafood place. Good stuff. Even though the Celtics somehow lost to the Hawks. That night I hung out with some friends at a lame bonfire at the beach. Yes, we have beaches here at Corpus. I got back home at 3 am. On sunday the suns and spurs played again. Now the 3rd game the spurs played perfect. Everything you want in a team they did. Parker was on fire, scoring a career high 41 points and added 12 assists in a 115-99 win over the Suns. The suns played their heart out, but when playing a great team who played perfect with a great coach (which Detroit doesnt have...), they are unstoppable. The suns had no luck for this perfect game to be #3. So the 4th game was on sunday afternoon and the Suns just took off. They had this big lead going into half time. The next thing I know my mom wakes me up at 5:15 telling me that mass was at 6. I was like, wow, I just missed the entire second half because I slept through this boring game on the couch. There was like 3 minutes left in the 4th before the Suns won a 105-86 game.

Shaq and Nash had no answer to Tony Parker going All-Star on them

After mass I went to my good friend's birthday party. Since I graduated, I was on the non-annapolis basketball team. I got on fire and was leading the scrappy, non-basketball playing squad against an all ACA Warrior basketball squad to a 21-6 game. We killed them. And they all play on the school team. And none of my guys did. Heck, they were all homeschoolers. And I am an old 19 year old guy fresh from his first year of college who played 6 years of varsity basketball and 5 years of varsity 6-man football and am now a basketball manager for the University of Michigan Men's Basketball team. And we killed them. Sweet, sweet victory.

So the week was good. First week back and a lot has happened. I am off from baseball till the 3rd of May, next saterday, when the team comes back from traveling. So I got the week off, and we will see what happens! Cheers -DP
