Boxing...Pacquiao and the future

Alright, boys, its time to get manly in here. Boxing is having some crazy news and I wanna make sure yall get a taste of the glory.

First thing is first...Manny Pacquiao, my favorite active boxer, is now congressman of his native land, the Phillipines. How bad ass will that be when he goes into the ring and they announce...."Standing 5 feet and 6 1/2 inches...wearing red shorts...with a record of 56 fights, inchludeing 51 wins, 38 by knock out, 3 losses and 2 no contests, a wold champion in 7 different weight classes and the current WBO world welterweight champion and the Ring lightweight champion and also rated the undesputed #1 pound for pound fighter of the world...hailing from the Phillipines...the Pride of the Phillipines and current congressman of the Phillipines...Manny Pacman Pacquiao!!!!!!"

Now that is just sick. Wherever you go, you are like, My name I pacquiao. I am congressman from my country, the philipines. I am also number one boxer in the world....its almost like saying, Hey, I am Arnold Swarchernager...Governor of Californiiiia...and Mr Universe...check out my bisceps....thats, yea, wow. Thats like Tashaun Prince of the Pistons being the mayor of Detroit, which at this rate, anyone can do better than Kwame.
What is funnny is that Pacquiao was a huge favorite in the Phillipines, obviously, by being a national hero...but it still wasnt easy for himt to win. He lost the last time he ran for congressman to the same dude who was there for years, a Billionare Roy Chiongbian who had been there for years. Apparently there is a lot of problems voting there, like many other countries. They started a new electronic system and so there were bombings and michines destroyed and people died at some poll centers and just waide spread corruption. How do you defeate the system? By paying off poor, illiterate and uneducated famers in the reagon, with 1000 pesos...which is like a $20 dollar bill here in the US. That way you kock off a big percentage of the population. But this time, all th etacknics were not enough, as the Pacman received 80% of the votes. Wow, that is crazy.

But now that he is congressman, talks have arrisen again about a show down to the Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather fight. According to one article, the fight may be even in October or November of this year. This would be huge for boxing...most likly the biggest fight of the millenium thus far, out dowing every other fight ever in the history of boxing, including viewership and in the purse. This would be fantastic for boxing...imagine all the promotion and hype they could do for the sport of boxing for thr next few months when the top two regarded #1 pound for pound fighters, pacquiao viewed as the best boxer of the decade by many, and floid mayweather jr being a legend of his own right, still undeafeated and thus still unstoppable, to go at it one on one. This would be great, ont eh of the best defeanders and counterpunchers in the game vs one of the best offesnsive punching machines the plantet has ever set eyes on. What will be the outcome? Will one remain undefeated, engraving his legacy for beating THE BEST in boxing, or will the congressman show that he is indeed, the number one fighter of the decade, that he can and will loose to no one was the pride of the Phillipines? This fight has so much anticipation and, highly probable that it will generate the largest revenues in history, MUST HAPPEN! It has to happen!...because I want to watch it...and not only do I want to watch it, if it is in the Garden or Dallas Stadium, I WANT TO GO!!!!...comon! Please let it be a reality! Lets make some History!

Classes, Basketball, Boxing and even some Batman fun

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, I havent been able to welcome you here to Michigan. As you hve probobly guessed...the man is hard at work. Let me give you a little intro in the classes I am taking. First off, remember I am a Sports Management Major. So my classes are:
-Organizational Behavior of Sports Businesses
-Strategy of Sport Businesses
-Economics of Sport Businesses
-Legal aspects of Sport Businesses
-and Rocket Science
the classes are all 3 credits which makes it nice and I even have it set in my schedual so that I can lift three times a week at Crisler when there is no one there. Really nice. Check out my first vid of my new appartment:

Plus baksetball is here of course, so that means many hours in the office and even more at Crisler, doing individuals and gettign the players prepared for practices starting October 16. Basketball has been a real joy lately and it is only going to get better. Infact, my good friend and buddy Chinadu was the one to really push me for writing this post. H emade me promise to post it tonight. So here I am. Everyone say thanks to Chin. He really is a major contributor. We call him 5by5...well, I do at least, cause he si square with his 5 workouts. Fascinating. He loves my blog, checks it every few minutes on his blackberry and loves guessing my spelling errors. Not only that, he recomended putting pictures on the border like here to the left! What a role modle! He will go far, he will indeed, as demonstrated in being an econ major plus managing for the Basketball Team PLUS coaching for the Gabriel Reshard High School Freshman girl´s team for the 3rd year. Awesome. We love you Chin.

Anyhow, lets get to some action. If you remember last time I wrote about the Notre Dame hype. Well, incase you were sleeping in a cave or living ont he dark side of the moon, we won. And we won again and again. The hoosier game was pretty intence, with us comming up from behind and winning in the end amist Forcier hurting his shoulder. Of course after The Notre Dame game Forcier somehow managed to get one vote for the Heisman running...yea, 2 games into his FRESHMAN year...of course. But Whatever. Here are two vids I took at the stadium. Exclusive from the Video. Brought to you by DP Productions.

Michigan pumping up

Now for some more news. You heard about the boxing fun from last post. Well, the specs are out and the fight generated and astonishing $1million pay-per-view buys, which is great for boxing: people are interested. The fight generated $54million in domestic pay-per-view revenue and the live gate made $6,811,300, generated from 12,009 tickets sold. Who´s more efficient?...well, haha yea. Always better to see live but ya know, it comes at a price.

But more exciting Boxing news...after 16 year, Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins will finally fight again. Wow. Amazing. There were talks of them fighting for a long time but it took forever to negociate the price split. But its pretty genious...50/50. Every heard of that before? But there is an incentive. Descition by Knock Out changes that to 60/40 respectfully. This is gonna be sick. Two old fat men, both over 40, dueling it out like they were little boys. The firght will be early 2010 and will be on HBO PPV. Ill keep you posted.

......................................

And the last bit of news before I start writing the next post haha...the Batmobile. Thats right. I think I have written before about Batmobile type vehicles but this is like pretty much the real deal. It is a $1 million 700hp Batmobile, right in Bruce Wayne´s budget, built over a 1973 Lincoln Continental chassis, and looks rediculously amazing. Too bad the vid didnt show its interior, which apparently is loaded with gadgets, from rear-view cameras to a plasma TV. Anyhow, enjoy the end of this post with this farewell vid. And comment, babby! You too chin! Thanks!

Mayweather vs. Marquez

There was a lot of hype for this fight. On one side with have the big money maker, Floyd Mayweather, undefeated and the undesputed pound for pound best fighter in the world, 5 time champion, and comming out of a 2 year retirement.
On the other side...the challenger hails from Mexico. Also best fighter in his country, best pound for pound and a rising star over some greats such as Joel Casamayor and three world championships of his own trying to make his name great and take over as the best in the world.

I really wanted to watch this match, really wanted to but I couldnt find anyone with paper view that was planing to watch it. So I missed out doing a major capture the flag ont he diag that was awesome...besides teh fact that I cant see colours and I was hopeless finding th eflag. But I did just hang out onn the enemies territory the whole time and would just play with them and many times splitting up 3, 4, sometimes 5 defenders to my escape. Classic.
But dont worry. I got the footage. I watched the fight. And wow. There was a lot of hype. And I felt bad for Marquez cause he came in working hard, but freakin Mayweather would just keep his head back and block all the rest of the shots. He did nock down Marquez once, which is amazing, but yea, I felt like he could have done so much more and maybe even made a knock out.

In the end Mayweather got the descition, kept his perfect record, and sustained the best boxer for his weaight in the world. Hoping to see him go after Pacuio later in the year. So yea, what a match, could have been a bit more, but it was pretty cool to watch the Money Maker back on the seane makin money.
...speakin of money, know when it sucks to be overweight, by even one pound? When it costs you $300,000, which was part of the contract that tehy both made. And since he was 2 pounds over weight, he owned Marquez $600,000 for 2 pounds! Not bad, eh? Considering he has a guarenteed purese of $10M, not including paper-view bonuses, sponsorships ect. Whats even more, now that the Money Maker made some money, he finally agreed to pay his taxes! Yea, all his back taxes...all $5.6M that he owns the government...so that Obama can continue his planned parenthood efforts, yay.

MEXICO SPECIAL EDITION: Day 6 Goes Out With A Knock Out

Greetings fellow people. After that long night we slept in a bit. And then my grandparents came up with an idea at breakfast. So we went to the centre for an hour and a 1/2 to buy some shirts for the family. Or they went. Me and Casey had been through those streets a few times already this trip so we were practically useless. We were told there was a god leather shop so Casey could look for wallets, that was the whole reason we tagged along, only to find it closed. We rushed back, ate and me, Casey, and my grandfather rushed back to the fair. The boxing match was at the bull righting ring. It was so cool to finally enter there. People were slowly comming in, as it was 5 and the program began at 6. They did start a few lower exibition mathes to keep the early birds entertained.

Then the boxing matches began. They were alright. All the maches were eather super light weight or super feather weight. So everone looked like mini muscular drinking staws. They had like 14 fights this night. So one after the other came and went. 4 rounds, 8 rounds, 6 rounds, 8 rounds. After a few hours me and Casey descided that we were thirsty and needed some tequilla. So we left the crowded seating area to try to find these dudes who were selling New Mix, a mix of tequilla and coke conviniently put into a pop can. We couldn't find the green dudes who were selling them. Then we couldn't get back into the gate. When we finally did wewere gated from our section where my grandfather was. So we exsited and went all the way around and had to sweet talk the gate keeper to let us in. And that tequila mix was so good that I was chugging that thing. When we entered back intot the gate another green dude was there so I refilled. I love tequila. And I must say, Casey is becomming a believer. One conversion at a time. Blue Agave....that's where it is all at!

There were only a few noteable fights. The first 3 fights had knock outs. One fight had this real tall, skinny guy fighting this short stout guy. The skinny guy was terrible and slow and was taking a beating. So he kept dropping his mouth piece, or even spitting out I think. He dropped it 6 times. Everyone was booing at him for being a wimp. While we were getting tequila these 2 guys were fighting and one was from Mexico. So people kept cheering "Mexico! Mexico!" but he was taking beating and lost.

Towards the end we had the long, 10 round fight. The guys were not that very good, but they were palying their hearts out. Well, the crowd wasn't liking it very much and kept booing when they came our after a found breat and were shouting "Sacanlos! Sacanlos!" and every other chant to get them out of the ring. This is where the crowds at Mexico show themselves. They are so loud. They are so winny. They complain about everything. This place is the mob. Welcome to the world where the mob rules. Those who come to power promise things to the mob and then abuse their power. Mexico is a mob, and until it begins to move away from that and become more educated and less winny, they will always be levels below the USA neighbor.

When those poor guys finaly finished the match, everyone cheered, not because they were applauding them but becuase they where glad these 2 guys were leaving. The crowd kept calling fot te championship match. And the judges gavethem what they wanted. By this time the fights where being put on tv. So the Mexican ring announcer left and we had this tall, old white guy. But the show was quite a spectical. The Mexican hero, Arce, AKA Travieso, came out with pyrotechnics flowing and fireworks going and he was on a horse, ridding into the ring. It was rediculous. They sang the Aguascalientes Fair of San Marcos song and the whole enchilada. The fight was pretty good too. The other guy was from like puerto rico. The 2 were both 114 lbs and the moved lightning quick, just like the dudes in the kung foo fighting song. Travieso looked like he was owning, and he was a few points ahead of the other dude, but after the 8th round he was taking some serious hits. People were really cheering him on. He ended up winning after 12 rounds by 1 point. People were nuts and we were hungry fo nuts so we left.

It was 11:45 when we got out of the stadium. We had been there for almost 6 hours. But it was quite the experience. Both me and Casey were tired. We tried to call Jasmine cause we were going to hang out but we were tired and she wouldn't answer her phone. So we headed back and crashed.

I hope all of you like all the pictures and vids we are putting up on this post. Share your thoughts! Ever been to a boxing fight? Ever see a boxing dude come out on a horse? Haha, let me know, and we will see you tomorrow for the grand finale of the 180th San Marcos Fair! Bull fighting, baby!
